The Kalama City Council will hold a public hearing on the City’s Six-Year Street Plan for 2025 through 2030 on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 320 N. Kalama City Hall will be closed May 27th for Memorial Day. The offices will remain closed to the public for the remainder of the week while staff relocates to temporary locations for the duration of the City Hall building renovations. Staff availability via email and phone will be limited over these 4 days during the move. Staff will be relocating to the office space at 320 N. First St for utilities, building, and other public facing services beginning Monday, June 3rd. City Hall office hours will be 9am – 5:00pm with closure for lunch from 12pm to 1pm while located away from the regular city hall building. The City Administration staff will be working at remote locations and will still be available by phone and email as well as in person, by appointment. Payments can be mailed by US Postal Service to: City of Kalama, P.O. Box 1007, Kalama, WA 98625, or dropped in the utility payment drop-box at 195 N. First St, but online payments are strongly encouraged. All telephone numbers will remain the same for contacting the City Hall staff. During this period, notary services will require an appointment due to staffing levels and location limitations. The renovation project is anticipated to last approximately 4 to 6 months.
The Kalama Lions Club looks forward to hosting the Kalama Summer Lights on the Fourth Beer Garden again this year! McMenamin's will be partnering with the Lion's Club to provide some of the alcohol as well. Come support the Lion's Club-- enjoy a refreshing beverage accompanied by wonderful live music and beautiful riverfront views. We are hoping for sunshine! The beer garden area will be located at the west side of the amphitheater seating, and fenced in for adults only. Beer will be served from noon to 9pm. See you there!
We heard you! Last year's event had a shortage of parking. This year we have worked with Peak Tours and Transit to have 2 shuttles running throughout the event to an offsite parking location (thanks to Kalama School District). Park at Kalama's middle school parking lot (near the Chinook Stadium) for a climate-controlled ride down to the event at the waterfront. These vehicles can accommodate 13-15 passengers, with high ceilings and large tinted windows. Please no food or drink in the shuttles. There will be a sign with a QR code at both pickup/drop off points so that you can track where each shuttle is currently located and a phone number to contact the driver(s) as well. Transportation services are covered by the event, so there is NO COST for passengers! We look forward to partnering with Peak Tours and Transit for this year's event!
We have hired the Kalama Fair Princesses and the 2023 Queen to provide FREE face painting at the Kalama Summer Lights on the Fourth event! We're so excited to work in partnership with this local group! Face painting will happen from 2pm-8pm on event day-- Thursday, July 4th! Bring the kids to this family friendly event. See you there!
Reserve Chaplain Tom Haan thanked the Mayor and City Council for their support and proclamation at the City Council meeting last night to recognize May 11-17, 2024 as National Police week in Kalama. He discussed the impacts of service on the Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) and urged the community to continue to support their local forces. The Chaplains are part of the support network for these officers.
