2020 Pavement Preservation Project Begins

Construction work began May 11th on the improvements to Elm Street from W. Frontage Road to Fourth Street (up High School Hill) and improvements to W. Frontage Road from the old Kingwood Crossing to Oak St.   The Contractor - AES, LLC, plans to work from 7am to 3:30 pm during the week on the project and hopes to be done no later than mid-July.   There will be some lane closures and possibly some paving work completed at night as the project moves forward.   Signage has been placed for the project on First Street, E. Frontage Road, W. Frontage Road, Old Pacific Highway South,  Elm Street,  plus the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cross streets.  The Contractor will be taking all mandated precautions and has submitted a COVID-19 plan for the work.  We ask citizens to be aware of the construction zones and apologize for any inconvenience.   These two projects are being 90 and 95% funded by State Transportation Improvement Funds.   Cost of the two projects is projected at $540,000 including engineering and construction with the City's share of costs at approximately $49,000 of street reserve funds.    If you have any questions regarding the project or concerns, please contact Director of Public Works Kelly Rasmussen at 360-673-3706 or by email      Thank you.
