Kalama Response to Covid 19 Virus

Post Date:03/13/2020 4:20 PM
With the COVID 19 Virus front and center in the news, the City of Kalama is reviewing and assessing information and recommendations as they become available.   Our first request is that the public heed the recommendation to stay at home if you are sick and avoid public contact.  The City's online payment service and the drop box next to City Hall are ways to avoid public contact.   With no current known cases in Cowlitz County, the City offices are remaining open but this will be reassessed daily.   The City is taking appropriate precautions to maintain a sanitary environment for the safety of staff and the public.  With the state closure of all schools,  the Kalama Library will be operating  but offering limited services to reduce public contact.  Checking in/Checking out books,  adult use of the computers for essential needs such as job searches, taxes, or the census will be available and children, accompanied by an adult, may check in and check out books, but no computer games will be available.  The City recognizes the seriousness of the situation and the need to take actions to avoid spread of the virus and will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate actions to protect the City staff and the public while meeting the needs of the citizens they serve.
