2.16.010 Office established.

A. The office of city clerk is abolished, subject to the conditions of subsection (C) of this section.
B. There is created a new office to be known as clerk-treasurer of the city, such office to be appointed by the mayor, subject to ratification by a majority vote of the city council.
C. This section and the consolidation of offices herein provided for, shall take effect on the first day of January, 1964. (Ord. 1118 § 2, 2003: Ord. 982 § 5, 1997; Ord. 470 §§ 1--3, 1963).

2.16.020 Bond.

The bond of the city clerk-treasurer is fixed in the penal sum of not less than ten thousand dollars, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of that office. (Ord. 902 § 3, 1995; Ord. 540 § 1, 1972: Ord. 169 § 1, 1913).

2.16.030 Deputy clerk-treasurer--Appointment--Salary--Bond.

The mayor is empowered to appoint a deputy clerk-treasurer, subject to ratification by majority vote of the city council, who shall receive such salary as shall from time to time be fixed by the city council. The deputy clerk-treasurer shall post a bond in the penal sum of not less than five thousand dollars conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of that office. 2.16.040 Authority to certify claims.

It is resolved by the city council that the deputy clerk shah be and is appointed to certify claims to the city council for payment by action of the council. In the absence of the deputy clerk, the clerk shall serve. (Res. 220, 1984).
